Yuwan Viros (he/him) serves as the Residence Hall Director at the University of New Orleans, where he leverages his diverse background and expertise to foster an inclusive and engaging living-learning environment for students. As a first-generation Filipino-American, Yuwan is deeply committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within higher education. His dual-degree in Public Relations and Theatre Arts from the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, equips him with a unique blend of communication skills and creative problem-solving abilities that he applies in his current role.
In his position, Yuwan supervises a team of 8 Resident Assistants and manages 40 Student Worker Desk Assistants, ensuring effective team leadership and interpersonal relationships among staff. He is responsible for leading semesterly training sessions that emphasize role modeling and organizational skills, preparing his team to support a diverse student body. Yuwan also oversees the Graduate Assistant for the STEM Living Learning Community (LLC), further enhancing the academic and social integration of students in specialized fields.
