Rune Hviid serves as the Head of Calibrations at Energinet, where he plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of metering systems critical to the energy sector. With a strong focus on ISO17025 accreditation, Rune oversees a laboratory dedicated to temperature and pressure calibration, ensuring that all measurements meet stringent international standards. His expertise extends to data acquisition and the configuration of metering equipment, which are essential for the precise monitoring of energy flows.
Currently, Rune is heavily involved in the design and implementation of fiscal metering installations for the Baltic Pipe project. This significant infrastructure initiative aims to enhance energy security in Europe by connecting gas supplies from Norway to Poland. Rune’s responsibilities include the design, upgrade, and commissioning of gas flow and gas quality metering stations, where his knowledge of nanofabrication and nanomaterials comes into play, particularly in the development of advanced metering technologies.
In addition to his technical skills, which encompass proficiency in MATLAB, CNC milling, and laser cutting, Rune’s academic background in semiconductor devices and university teaching enriches his approach to problem-solving and innovation. His ability to integrate scientific principles with practical applications positions him as a key contributor to Energinet’s mission of providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions. Through his work, Rune not only enhances operational efficiency but also supports the broader goals of energy transition and environmental stewardship.
