Robin Herdman is a seasoned expert in British Sign Language (BSL), Deaf Awareness, and Deaf Studies, with over 25 years of dedicated experience in the North East of England. Currently working as a freelancer, Robin has made significant contributions to the public sector, particularly in the Tyne & Wear area, where he has been instrumental in enhancing communication strategies among Council workers, NHS staff, and university students. His role involves not only teaching essential topics related to Deaf culture and communication but also providing critical insights into effective Deaf awareness practices that foster inclusivity and understanding.
Robin’s extensive background includes serving as an Assessor for BSL qualifications with Signature, where he ensures that the standards of BSL education are upheld and that learners receive the highest quality of instruction. Additionally, he acts as an Internal Verifier, overseeing the assessment processes and contributing to the continuous improvement of BSL training programs. His expertise in communication support work is complemented by his leadership skills, enabling him to effectively guide and mentor others in the field.
