Paul Hong is a Principal Software Engineer at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), where he leverages his extensive expertise in software system design and development to drive innovation in hyper-scale enterprise cloud solutions. With a robust background in SDN/NFV, routing, switching, and security, Paul plays a pivotal role in the design and development of OCI’s generation-2 hyper-scale public and private cloud infrastructure. His current projects focus on creating cutting-edge software and infrastructure for OCI Database services, including ExaDB and AutonomousDB, with an emphasis on multi-cloud integration across platforms like Azure, GCP, and AWS.
In addition to his work on database systems, Paul is spearheading the development of a hyperscale distributed private endpoint and service network gateway system, which is critical for enhancing connectivity and security in cloud environments. His previous contributions include the design of the Cloud Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) SDN Controller and the VPN as a Service (VPNaaS) NFV controller, showcasing his proficiency in cloud networking solutions.
