Nurjahan (Jahan) (Bruce) Boulden is a transformative force in the realm of gun violence recovery and advocacy, currently serving as a Storyteller and Facilitator at Shooting Survivors: Support & Resources. With a deeply personal narrative as a survivor of gun violence, Jahan has turned a traumatic experience into a powerful mission to empower others facing similar challenges. At just 21 years old, Jahan was shot with an assault rifle, an incident that initially seemed to shatter dreams of a career in dance. However, through resilience and determination, Jahan has emerged as a national leader in helping shooting survivors reclaim their lives.
In her current role, Jahan has spearheaded the development of the Feel Safe Again online programs, which encompass webinars, training sessions, and a wealth of free resources designed to support survivors in their healing journeys. Her expertise in community outreach and program development has been instrumental in creating a safe space for individuals to share their stories and connect with others. As a keynote speaker and expert panelist, Jahan has shared her insights on platforms like TEDx, where she discusses the emotional and psychological impacts of gun violence, advocating for systemic change and increased resources for survivors.
Jahan’s skills in volunteer management, grant writing, and community development have enabled her to build a robust network of support, fostering a culture of resilience among survivors. By leveraging her personal experience and professional expertise, she continues to inspire hope and healing, proving that even in the face of unimaginable adversity, it is possible to reclaim one’s life and dreams.
