Michael Mazzella serves as the Chief Geoscientist and Owner of Nuovo Energy, where he leverages his extensive expertise in exploration geology to drive innovative solutions in the energy sector. With certifications as a Petroleum Geologist (CPG # 6444) and an Earth Scientist (SIPES # 3589), Michael has established himself as a leading figure in the field, particularly in the siliciclastic exploration targets of the Gulf of Mexico Basin. His role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities, including exploration prospect generation, prospect analysis, and development geology/geophysics.
At Nuovo Energy, Michael is instrumental in conducting seismic interpretation and seismic attribute analysis, employing an integrated workflow that includes reflection seismic interpretation and synthetic seismograms. His proficiency in seismic stratigraphy and geomodelling allows him to create detailed subsurface models that inform strategic decision-making for exploration and production. Michael’s expertise extends to secondary recovery assessments, risk assessments, and volumetric modeling, enabling him to provide comprehensive financial analyses of prospect and well investments.
