With over 30 years of extensive experience in the energy sector, Matthias combines his technical expertise as a geophysicist with his leadership acumen in various functional roles within exploration and production (E&P). His current focus is on the implementation and promotion of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC), which was updated in 2019 to provide a comprehensive and standardized approach to the classification and management of all resources, including minerals, energy, and water.
Under Matthias's stewardship, the UNFC Adoption Group is actively engaged in key projects that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in fostering sustainable practices within the oil and gas industry.
