Lindsey Pullum serves as the Program Director of Youth & Government at the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of civic leaders. With a robust background in ethnography and a passion for mentorship, Lindsey oversees a dynamic, grant-funded program that engages 200 teenagers from diverse backgrounds across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Her expertise in instructional design and educational program development is evident in her creation of a comprehensive 40-week curriculum that focuses on career and college readiness, bill writing, public policy, and servant leadership. Utilizing innovative tools like Google Classroom Modules, she ensures that her students not only grasp essential civic concepts but also develop critical thinking and leadership skills.
Lindsey's commitment to diversity training and cultural anthropology informs her approach to teaching, enabling her to create an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and valued. Her trilingual abilities in English, Hebrew, and Palestinian-Israeli Arabic enhance her capacity to connect with students from various backgrounds, fostering a sense of belonging and community. Currently, she is also engaged in research projects focusing on the Druze community in Israel, which further enriches her understanding of cultural dynamics and informs her work in youth development. Through her leadership, Lindsey is not only preparing teens for future academic and career pursuits but also instilling in them a deep sense of civic responsibility and the importance of active participation in democracy.
