Kristin Larson serves as the Director of Energy and Sustainability at San Diego State University (SDSU), where she plays a pivotal role in advancing the university's commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. With a robust background in sustainable development and environmental planning, Kristin oversees the Office of Energy & Sustainability, which is integral to managing sustainability initiatives across SDSU's state-owned campus buildings and properties. Her leadership extends to the operation of SDSU's utilities, which are powered by a state-of-the-art co-generation plant, ensuring energy efficiency and reducing the university's carbon footprint.
In her current role, Kristin supervises a dedicated team of ten sustainability staff members, including one full-time professional and nine part-time student assistants, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovative solutions to complex sustainability challenges. Under her guidance, key projects have emerged, focusing on energy audits, green building practices, and habitat management, all aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and promoting conservation issues within the campus community.
