Jim Baker is an accomplished Engineering Oracle DBA with over 19 years of extensive experience in software design and development, currently contributing his expertise at UBS. Since rejoining the Database Engineering team, Jim has been instrumental in the implementation of the Database as a Service (DBaaS) initiative, a transformative project aimed at enhancing the efficiency and scalability of database management across the organization. His deep knowledge of Oracle RDBMS technologies, particularly in Oracle RAC, Exadata, and Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), positions him as a key player in optimizing performance and ensuring high availability within complex database environments.
At UBS, Jim leverages his skills in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 12c) and Advanced Storage Management (ASM) to monitor and fine-tune database performance, ensuring that the systems operate at peak efficiency. His proficiency in performance tuning and data warehousing allows him to implement robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of the business.
