As the Chief of the Shine Rural Volunteer Fire & EMS Association Inc., Jeremy Mpa brings over two decades of dedicated service to the fire and emergency medical fields. His journey began in 1995 as a volunteer firefighter, and he has since ascended to the role of Chief, where he has led the department for more than 15 years. Under his leadership, the department has grown to encompass 40 committed volunteers who provide essential fire and emergency medical services to the Shine Community in western Greene County, NC.
Jeremy's extensive experience in fire management and public safety is complemented by his academic background; he graduated from East Carolina University in 2001 and briefly ventured into education as a high school teacher and baseball coach before fully committing to a career in firefighting in 2005. This unique blend of teaching and leadership skills has enabled him to effectively manage and train his team, ensuring that they are well-prepared for any incident.
In addition to his role as Chief, Jeremy serves as the Executive Director of the department, overseeing its operations as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. His responsibilities include incident management, fire inspections, and emergency medicine, all of which are critical to maintaining the safety and well-being of the community. Jeremy's proficiency in account management and his adept use of tools like Microsoft PowerPoint facilitate effective communication and training within the department. His commitment to life safety and public service continues to inspire his team and the community, making him a pivotal figure in enhancing the quality of emergency response in the region.
