Dr. Heidi Truax, PhD, LPC, serves as the Executive Director of the Office of School Counseling and Postsecondary Advising at Chicago Public Schools (CPS), where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of students across the district. With a robust background in counseling and education, Dr. Truax leads a dynamic team of five directors, fifteen specialists, and over twenty coaches, all dedicated to enhancing the college and career readiness of CPS students. Her expertise lies in program development and staff development, ensuring that the more than 700 school counselors and 200+ postsecondary coaches are equipped with the tools and resources necessary to support students effectively.
Under Dr. Truax's leadership, key projects have included the implementation of innovative counseling frameworks that prioritize student-centered approaches and the integration of data-driven strategies to track student progress.
