Elayne Zalis serves as the Principal Communications Strategist for Development at UC Irvine, where she leverages her extensive expertise in writing and communications to enhance philanthropic efforts across the campus. With a rich academic background that includes an interdisciplinary PhD in media arts, a master’s degree in journalism and communications, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Elayne brings a unique perspective to her role. She collaborates closely with advancement leadership and development staff to craft personalized proposals for high-priority solicitations, particularly focusing on UCI Health and the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences.
Her key projects involve writing and editing a variety of donor-facing documents, such as transformational gift proposals, stewardship reports, and impact reports, all designed to engage and inform potential and current donors about the profound impact of their contributions. Elayne’s ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives not only enhances the visibility of UCI’s initiatives but also fosters deeper connections between the university and its philanthropic partners.
In addition to her strategic communications work, Elayne is passionate about creative writing and coaching, drawing on her skills in public relations and publishing to inspire others in the field.
