Dana Duffis serves as the NAIP Specialist at the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA), where she plays a pivotal role in enhancing the support systems for immigrants and refugees across the Commonwealth. With a strong foundation in Peace and Conflict Studies from UMass Lowell and advanced studies at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Dana leverages her academic background and personal experiences as an Iraqi refugee to inform her work. Her commitment to social inclusion and community empowerment is evident in her strategic approach to developing outreach priorities and negotiating contracts with over 15 community-based organizations (CBOs).
Dana's leadership skills shine through her successful recruitment, onboarding, and training of AmeriCorps members, which has significantly increased the program's capacity and effectiveness. By adding five new CBOs and doubling membership at existing sites, she has not only expanded the network of support for refugees but also enhanced the collaborative efforts among organizations dedicated to this cause. Her expertise in project management and budget preparation ensures that initiatives are executed efficiently and sustainably.
In addition to her operational responsibilities, Dana is adept at report writing and presenting at international conferences, where she shares insights on best practices in refugee resettlement and community outreach. Her organizational skills and commitment to fostering partnerships make her a valuable asset to MIRA and the broader NGO community, as she continues to advocate for the rights and well-being of refugees worldwide.
