Cheng Yutung currently serves as a Deputy Engineer at the Institute for Information Industry (工研院), specifically within the Electromagnetic Systems Division. With a robust academic foundation, holding both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Control Engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Cheng has cultivated a specialized expertise in RISC-V architecture and embedded systems. His role primarily focuses on the design and verification of software for RISC-V/RVV based microcontroller units (MCUs), where he plays a pivotal part in advancing the capabilities of next-generation semiconductor technologies.
One of Cheng’s key projects involves the development of cycle-accurate and instruction-accurate simulation models, which are essential for ensuring the reliability and performance of complex system-on-chip (SoC) designs. He is responsible for creating a comprehensive design flow for SoC verification, which streamlines the testing and validation processes, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of product development. Additionally, Cheng has made significant contributions to the Baremetal System Board Support Package, ensuring that the foundational software required for hardware operation is robust and optimized.
Cheng’s expertise extends to leveraging RVV intrinsic functions and SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) techniques to accelerate system performance, making him a valuable asset in the evolving landscape of wireless communication technologies. His proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Verilog, coupled with his understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, positions him at the forefront of innovation in the semiconductor industry. As he continues to navigate the complexities of embedded systems, Cheng Yutung remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and contributing to the advancement of smart electronic solutions.
