Bubchul Jeong currently serves as a Principal Engineer at OPENEDGES Technology, Inc., where he leverages his extensive expertise in Network-on-Chip (NoC) design and verification to drive innovative solutions in advanced semiconductor technologies. With a specialized focus on micro-architecting and designing NoC nodes, Bubchul has played a pivotal role in the development of critical components such as the initiate/target Network Interface Unit (NIU), asynchronous bridges, and protocol converters. His contributions extend to the design of various essential nodes, including data width converters, Quality of Service (QoS) logic, and debugging units, showcasing his versatility and depth of knowledge in the field.
In his current role, Bubchul is instrumental in architecting routing protocols and implementing low-power features that enhance the efficiency of NoC systems. He has developed sophisticated ID maintenance policies for routing and ordering, which are crucial for maintaining data integrity in complex chip architectures. His innovative approach to coarse and fine-grained clock gating significantly reduces toggle power in the clock tree, ensuring low wake-up latency and optimizing performance. Additionally, Bubchul has pioneered dynamic bandwidth regulation techniques that utilize thirsty/back-pressure mechanisms to manage QoS effectively.
Bubchul’s technical proficiency extends to RTL implementation, where he excels in setting up verification environments and design flows using both commercial and self-developed tools. His scripting skills, particularly in Perl, enable him to automate processes and enhance design optimization for area and power efficiency. With a strong foundation in debuggable and reusable design principles, as well as familiarity with verification methodologies such as ‘specman’, Bubchul Jeong continues to be a driving force in the evolution of NoC technologies at OPENEDGES Technology, Inc.
