Boshu Ru serves as the Director of Real World Evidence (RWE) and Data Science at Merck, where he leverages over seven years of experience in pharmaceutical research to drive impactful insights in healthcare. With a PhD in computer science, Boshu possesses a robust understanding of research methodologies and data analysis, particularly in the context of real-world data (RWD). His expertise spans a variety of advanced analytical techniques, including machine learning and natural language processing (NLP), which he applies to enhance the quality and applicability of RWE generation.
In his current role, Boshu leads the execution of complex analyses aimed at generating fit-for-purpose RWE across multiple therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular/metabolic diseases, acute hospital care, antibiotics, virology, neurology, and immunology. He is instrumental in drafting research protocols and preparing programming specifications that ensure the integrity and validity of non-interventional studies utilizing secondary data sources such as medical claims, registries, and electronic health records (EHR). His proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, and SQL, combined with his skills in SAS programming and data management systems like MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server, allows him to effectively oversee the quality assessment of RWD and the implementation of machine learning models.
Boshu's proven track record in leading research study execution not only underscores his analytical acumen but also highlights his commitment to advancing healthcare outcomes through data-driven insights. His work not only supports Merck's strategic objectives but also contributes to the broader goal of improving patient care through evidence-based decision-making.
