Bill Shaw, as the Founder and President of Tampa Hackerspace (THS), plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation and collaboration within the maker community in the Southeast. With a rich background in IT project management, Bill has leveraged his expertise to transform THS into a vibrant 501(c)(3) community workshop that emphasizes education and hands-on learning. His journey began with a significant contribution to local County government, where he spearheaded the development of the first email system and established local area networks (LANs) that interconnected 60 remote locations. This foundational experience has equipped him with a robust understanding of software design, project management, and change management, which he now applies to his leadership at THS.
At Tampa Hackerspace, Bill is dedicated to providing access to advanced fabrication tools and a diverse array of classes and workshops that cater to makers of all skill levels. Under his guidance, THS has become a hub for creativity and innovation, facilitating networking opportunities among individuals from various backgrounds, including software development, programming in Go, and utilizing Elasticsearch.
