Barlow (Bart) Schuyler is a dedicated psychosocial rehabilitation counselor and a passionate advocate for the rights of individuals with mental illness. As a Co-Founder of Connect I-DD, Bart plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between parents and their dependent adult children living at home with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I-DD). With over 21 years of experience in the field, he has honed his expertise in rehabilitation counseling, focusing on empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives despite the challenges posed by severe mental illness.
At Connect I-DD, Bart is spearheading key projects aimed at developing comprehensive support systems for families navigating the complexities of I-DD. His leadership is instrumental in creating resources that foster collaboration among caregivers, service providers, and the community, ensuring that families have access to vital information and support networks. His previous role as President of the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Santa Cruz County and Chair of the Local Mental Health Board has equipped him with a deep understanding of the systemic issues faced by those with mental health challenges, further enhancing his ability to advocate effectively for policy changes and improved services.
