Amreh Hopkins serves as the Sustainability and Community Engagement Director at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services, where she plays a pivotal role in integrating sustainable practices within the food service industry. With a strong focus on enhancing the socio-economic status of impoverished and marginalized communities, Amreh leverages her expertise in environmental issues and social justice to drive impactful initiatives. Her current role involves collaborating with a diverse array of stakeholders, including clients, university officials, and students, to establish best practices in food purchasing, waste reduction, and facility services.
One of Amreh's key projects includes the development and deployment of comprehensive sustainability programs that engage over 400 associates and 30+ managers and supervisors. By fostering a culture of sustainability within her team, she ensures that every aspect of operations—from sourcing local, sustainable food products to minimizing food waste—is aligned with Chartwells’ commitment to environmental stewardship. Amreh is particularly honored to work with Women- and Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (W/MBE) and non-profit organizations, creating pathways for collaboration that uplift local communities while promoting sustainable practices.
Her skills in communication, team leadership, and customer relationship management (CRM) enable her to effectively advocate for sustainability initiatives, ensuring that they resonate with both employees and the broader university community. As she continues to champion sustainability in higher education dining services, Amreh remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact on both the environment and the communities she serves, embodying the belief that food service can be a catalyst for positive change.
