Dong Wei serves as the Principal Group Engineering Manager within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of data center operations and infrastructure. With a focus on designing, building, and operating Microsoft’s expansive network of data centers, Dong leads the CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) in delivering innovative services and applications that enhance operational efficiency and reliability. His expertise in distributed systems and cloud computing has been instrumental in the development of critical projects that drive the company’s infrastructure forward.
One of Dong's most significant achievements is the creation of the Cloud Infrastructure Health (CIH) program, a comprehensive telemetry acquisition, processing, anomaly, and incident detection platform. This initiative provides unparalleled visibility into the Data Center Physical Infrastructure (DCPI) across all Microsoft data centers globally, ensuring high availability and operational excellence. By leveraging advanced analytics and automation, the CIH program enables proactive monitoring and management of data center health, ultimately reducing costs and enhancing scalability.
In addition to CIH, Dong founded the Critical Environment Software Engineering charter at Microsoft, which encompasses several key initiatives, including Digital Procedure, Cloud Automation and Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). His leadership in these areas not only fosters innovation but also cultivates a culture of collaboration and excellence within his team. With a strong background in security, integration, and analysis, Dong Wei continues to drive transformative projects that position Microsoft as a leader in the cloud computing landscape, ensuring that its data centers operate at peak performance while meeting the ever-evolving demands of the industry.
