Joanne Bottenberg is a dedicated volunteer Ski Patroller at Alpental Ski Patrol, where she leverages her extensive managerial experience and specialized skills to enhance the safety and well-being of skiers and snowboarders. With over 30 years of professional expertise, Joanne has transitioned her leadership capabilities from the corporate world into the outdoor emergency medical field. As an Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and CPR Advisor since 1995, she plays a pivotal role in ensuring that her fellow patrollers are well-trained and prepared to respond to emergencies on the slopes.
In her current role, Joanne coordinates instructor training for OEC and CPR, demonstrating her commitment to fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within the patrol team. She is responsible for managing the annual OEC refreshers, which involve over 200 patrollers, ensuring that all members are up-to-date with the latest emergency protocols and techniques. Additionally, Joanne leads comprehensive 90-hour OEC courses for patrol candidates, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective emergency medical care both on the hill and in the lodge's first aid room.
