Geoff Brodeur is a seasoned Principal Research Scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where he leverages over 15 years of extensive experience in pharmaceutical science to drive innovative solutions in drug development. His expertise lies in solid oral dosage form development, particularly in the formulation of amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs), which are crucial for enhancing the bioavailability of poorly soluble compounds. A key highlight of Geoff's career is his pivotal role in the development of Tezacaftor SDD, a groundbreaking amorphous spray-dried dispersion of a CFTR corrector molecule designed to treat cystic fibrosis.
In this project, Geoff was responsible for the formulation development of the SDD, successfully scaling up from laboratory-scale spray dryers to a small commercial-scale PSD-2 spray dryer. His adeptness in process development on the PSD-2 spray dryer was instrumental in optimizing the manufacturing process, ensuring consistent quality and performance of the final product.
