With a robust background in public health emergency management and community engagement, Eliza is dedicated to fostering a culture of preparedness within the diverse UTRGV community. Her responsibilities encompass the comprehensive planning, directing, and reviewing of emergency management strategies that adhere to the five phases of emergency management: Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.
In her current role, Eliza leads key initiatives that enhance the university's resilience against potential crises, ensuring that all departments are equipped with effective business continuity plans. She collaborates cross-functionally to conduct thorough risk assessments and business impact analyses, identifying vulnerabilities and developing tailored strategies to address them. Her expertise in the U.S. National Incident Management System (NIMS) allows her to implement best practices in disaster response and recovery, ensuring that UTRGV is not only prepared for emergencies but can also recover swiftly and efficiently.
